Do You Honor your Elders?
Have you ever thought about the kind of lifestyle you want to live once you reach old age? Most people hope for a peaceful and fun life filled with family and friends. Sadly, one in five Americans reports feeling lonely or socially isolated, according to the Health Resources & Services Administration. This loneliness and social isolation are even more severe among seniors, with over 43% reporting this phenomenon regularly. Loneliness is lethal; feeling alone has been proven to be even more dangerous than obesity or smoking a pack a day! Imagine living your golden years isolated, after all the years you dedicated to your friends and family. This month dedicate time to a senior that you care about. Now is the perfect time to show you respect for your elders. Older citizens should be celebrated and honored for the contributions they have made to build our beautiful nation. This week take some time to honor the elders in your life by giving them a call or sending them a care package. A little thoughtfulness and kindness can go a long way.
Readers, if you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, call your nearest medical facility and seek care immediately. If you have an underlying condition like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or respiratory conditions, shelter in place and stay away from others or busy areas, for the most up-to-date information about the Coronavirus, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
OurSeniors.org is on a mission to reach out to isolated seniors in the local community. Help bring joy to their lives by donating or volunteering to visit a facility. A little mindfulness can go a long way. We hope you enjoy this winter season from our team at OurSeniors.org.
