Spring Cleaning in a Nursing Home
Seniors, open up your windows and let the fresh air in. It is almost spring and you know what that means, spring cleaning! Now is the best time to clean your space and redecorate. A good spring cleaning improves your space’s air quality by removing allergens, which keep you feeling sick throughout the day. Cleaning also improves mood and increases focus.
If you are looking for an easy way to freshen up your living area here are a few tips to get you started:
- Clean windowsills and window tracts
- Disinfect doorknobs; cabinet handles and light switches
- Dispose of old medicine and toiletries
- Ask someone to rotate your mattress
- Organize drawers and closets
- Go through your clutter
- Toss out things you no longer use
- Donate any clothing you do not wear
- Dust electronics and furniture
If you need help with any of these tasks, do not be afraid to ask. Call a friend, a family member, or an employee. Always ask for help if you need it and practice safety first. With a squeaky-clean room, not only will your health improve, but your mood will too! A cluttered home can affect mental health and lead to poorer mental processing. So, the less clutter you have, the higher your well-being, plus you will be more likely to welcome visitors to your beautiful space. Happy spring cleaning!
