How to Inspire Others During Difficult Times
Have you been staying in contact with your loved ones? This crisis doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon and so many people are suffering. Though suffering happens all year long, during a widespread pandemic, we all become more attuned to the pain it causes on others. During these critical moments, being available and learning how to respond to someone who’s suffering can save someone’s life. Seniors are at such a severe risk for this new virus that naturally their fear, depression, and anxiety are unnaturally high. Do your part and take the time to inspire and motivate seniors to keep on moving forward.
Here are a few ways you can inspire others:
- Have deep empathy for others
- Foster equality
- Openly express love and appreciation
- Be an active listener
- Tell inspiring stories
Just remember whatever you do keep on showing up for your senior. Please do not give up on them. You may not know what to say or what to do but showing up is half the battle. Call them, reassure them, and help them feel like everything will be ok.
If you have an underlying condition like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or respiratory conditions, shelter in place and stay away from others or busy areas. For the most up-to-date information about the Coronavirus, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
OurSeniors.org is on a mission to reach out to isolated seniors in the local community. Help bring joy to their lives by donating or volunteering to visit a facility. A little mindfulness can go a long way. We hope you enjoy this winter season from our team at OurSeniors.org.
